Winter Snow Sports in Furano

Japan is now internationally recognised as one of best snow sports destinations in the world, particularly for those looking for optimal dry powder snow conditions for skiing or snowboarding. Annual average snowfalls of around 8 metres at Furano combine with consistent low temperatures and very low humidity to produce fantastic dry powder, snow conditions. Very regular snowfalls during the colder months maintain the natural ski slopes and a range of well groomed runs and more challenging untouched areas provide a host of opportunities for skiers and snow boarders of all abilities.

In Furano, the added attractions are the relatively uncrowded slopes and ski lifts and the lower costs in ski hire and charges compared to many international ski locations and resorts. It is a great winter ski experience for everyone from first timers to the enthusiast.

Without question a big draw card is the tremendous cultural experience that complements the excellent skiing opportunities, more so than just a resort experience that can be found at other well known locations. The semi rural character and charm of this central region of Hokkaido really adds an extra dimension.
